I'm Joy Ravela and have 10 years of experience in Christian media and broadcasting, working across radio, television, podcasts, and digital communications in both Australia and New Zealand. I’ve had the privilege of broadcasting with Rhema Media (NZ), 89.9 TheLight, and 96three Geelong, and I bring a well-rounded understanding of radio, shaped by both on-air and behind-the-scenes roles in sales, fundraising, marketing, and social media.
At its heart, I believe radio is about connection. It’s a space to offer encouragement, share stories, and create moments that help listeners feel seen and supported. My on-air style is warm, conversational, and approachable. When someone tunes in, I hope it feels like sitting down with a big (or little) sister over a cosy cuppa.
I have experience hosting in both solo and duo formats, and I genuinely enjoy collaborating with other talent. I’m comfortable adapting to different personalities and styles, helping create a natural flow on air, and ensuring everyone has room to shine.
My career has included radio announcing, copywriting, television, podcasting, and a range of communications roles. This broader experience helps me understand radio not just as a creative outlet, but as a powerful tool to connect people to the love and hope of Christ, and to gently challenge believers to take the next step in their discipleship journey.
Becoming a new mum has deepened my appreciation for the power of a kind, steady voice — one that’s there in the car, at home, or even at 3 a.m. during the seventeenth nappy change (true story!). I love exploring topics around faith, parenting, and creative pursuits. I’m a thoughtful observer of life, happy to go deep when it matters, while always keeping things light, relatable, and enjoyable to listen to.
